Josh Mers, 13th District Finale, Alvarado's Home Health Scandal, Good Bill/Bad Bill + More!

This week, we welcomed Josh Mers back to the show!  He's now a candidate for Kentucky Treasurer, and we talked what the office does, why he decided to run for that office, and what he wants to accomplish if he gets the chance to serve as Treasurer. 
Also this week, we talked about the ending of the 13th District saga, Sen. Alvarado's home health scandal, the SCOKY oral arguments regarding Marsy's Law, Louisville's terrible week, and we introduced a new segment: "Good Bill/Bad Bill", where we talked through two bills -- a good one and a bad one.  The good bill this week was HB 41, a fair scheduling bill. The bad bill was SB 100, which makes solar net metering less attractive in Kentucky.

This week we were thrilled to welcome Gubernatorial candidate Adam Edelen onto our show. Robert talked to him about why he's running, what he wants to do as governor, how he would accomplish those goals, and how he plans to win the election. Mr. Edelen is full of policy ideas and definitely has a clear vision for Kentucky's future. (Interview begins at 29:23)
Before speaking with Mr. Edelen, Jazmin and Robert talk through the second and third parts of a series of articles in the Herald-Leader (written with ProPublica) about Alison Lundergan Grimes and her relationship with the State Board of Elections, plus her connections with a cybersecurity firm that received a no-bid contract. Then, Jazmin and Robert discuss the recount in the 13th House District, which ended in a tie! Finally, they wrap the news with two topics touching on abortion rights in Kentucky.

Rep. Josie Raymond Talks Pre-K (and the Owensboro Recount), Plus Filing Deadline Drama

This week, Kentucky Representative Josie Raymond visits us to talk about her bills regarding Pre-K, plus her transition from running for office to holding office, and her role as a member of the 9-member recount committee.  Before that. Robert and Jazmin discuss the state races now that the fields are set -- as usual, there was plenty of filing deadline drama.

This week, Robert and Jazmin discuss two stories that don't cast Kentucky in the best light: the controversy swirling around Covington Catholic in the wake of a viral video over the weekend, and new details emerging in the sexual harassment scandal in the legislature.
Other topics include a discussion of Passport Health's future and the federal government shutdown's impact on the Medicaid waiver lawsuit.

Session Update - School Safety, Senate Progress, Franklin Circuit Court Changes, & More!

This week, Jazmin and Robert tackle the first week of the session -- there have been five bills that passed the Senate, and Robert updates us about what they are and what they would do.  Jazmin explains the school safety bills that are the top priorities for the House and Senate, and Robert talks about a potential change to the way Kentucky handles constitutional challenges in court.

2019 Session Begins, Gubernatorial Updates, & Greg Stumbo Through The Years

First up this week, Robert updates us about the beginning of the 2019 session.  Then, Jazmin explains the state of the Governor's race -- who is in, who is out, and who is a maybe.  Finally, on the heels of Greg Stumbo declaring his candidacy for Attorney General, Robert goes through the history of his career, all the way back to his first election in 1980.
