This week, Jazmin talks to us about Attorney General Andy Beshear and Governor Bevin's general counsel Steve Pitt's arguments before the Supreme Court of Kentucky.  Robert also updates us about Braidy Industries, who is attempting to build an aluminum plant in Ashland with $15 million of Kentucky taxpayer dollars.  And, there are Quick Hits!
Robert also attempted to do an interview with Paula Setser-Kissick this week, but he failed miserably at technology.  We hope to reschedule with her soon!

This week, Jazmin and Robert sit down with David Suetholz, Democratic candidate for th 20th Senate district.  Mr. Suetholz is known for his strong support of the labor movement, and we spoke to him about that as well as agricultural issues in his district and other major issues like the state budget.
Before that, Jazmin updates us about Lexington's city hall, a challenge to the candidacy of Christian Motley, who is running for Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council, and Robert updates several stories we've introduced in the past few months.

On this week's show, we welcomed Sen. Morgan McGarvey and Rep. Jason Nemes, both of Louisville, for a bi-partisan chat about sports betting.  Both legislators are leading the charge attempting to legalize those kinds of wages in Kentucky.  We talked through their coalition, why they think the bill will pass this year, and some details about the future bill.  It was a great chat!
Before that, Jazmin and Robert talked through the state's overcrowded jails, and the strike at Four Roses.  Additionally, Robert explained why some recent stories about voter registration numbers might be overhyped.  Thanks for listening!

This week, Rae Hodge sits in for Jazmin and she and Robert speak with Sarah Zeller of the Kentucky Center for Economic Policy about their new economic agenda.  They speak about it's purpose and contents, what KCEP hopes to accomplish with it, and how they expect to use it.  They also discuss ways the economic agenda is already being used on the campaign trail.
Before the interview, Rae and Robert discuss the indictment of Jerry Lundergan and what that means for his daughter, Alison Lundergan Grimes.  In addition, the duo talk through the massive raise for Kentucky's CIO.

What a jam packed show we have for you guys this week!  Dr. Karen Berg, Democratic candidate for the 26th Senate district in Oldham and NE Jefferson Counties visits with us and talks strategy and why she's running.  We've been watching this district pretty closely!  She talked at length about the issues she's passionate about and bringing her message to the voters in Oldham County.
Before that, Jazmin and Robert talked about the settlement between JCPS & the KY Board of Education (removing the need for a takeover).  We also talked about Alison Lundergan Grimes being accused of several things by the Executive Director of the board of elections and the fallout there.  Jazmin did a story about legislator's travel loopholes, Robert talked about the LRC Director's contract not being renewed, and there was an update in the Governor's race.  It's a full show!  Thanks for listening.

This week we welcomed LaToya Drake, candidate in Kentucky's 23rd house district, to the show.  She spoke about her reasons for running, her love for south central Kentucky, and what it's like on the ground in Glasgow.  She's a welcome voice in Kentucky!
Jazmin is gone this week, so Robert welcomed Rae Hodge to the show!  They talked a bit about the state of journalism in Kentucky in 2018, Rae gave us a fundraising update, and Robert gave an updated on one of the Medicaid lawsuits (which was dismissed) plus an update on the JCPS takeover (witness lists have been released).

This week, we were happy to welcome Dustin Burley, candidate for Kentucky's 53rd house district in Anderson, Spencer, and Bullitt Counties.  He spoke about running for office in a rural area as a gay African American man.  He had some great insights about what's truly important to win votes!
Before that, Jazmin and Robert talked about the use of School Resource officers in JCPS, update the implementation of the Real ID act in Kentucky, discuss which of Gov. Bevin's recent offensive statements are truly the MOST offensive, and several other topics!

This week we were honored to welcome Senator Reginald Thomas of Lexington, who spoke to us about his service in Frankfort and about his run for the 6th US Congressional District.  It was great to hear his perspective on running for higher office and what he found valuable about the experience.  He also had great insight about serving in Frankfort.
 
Before out visit with Sen. Thomas, Jazmin and Robert spoke about Fancy Farm, which happened last weekend, the hiring of two new adoption advisors and about the elevation of Hal Heiner to the chair of the State Board of Education.  Plus, this week we have Quick Hits!
