Josie Raymond joined Robert and Jazmin in the second half of the show to talk about a new effort called Get UP Louisville, which is working to ensure universal pre-k for all 3 and 4 year olds in Kentucky's largest county. It's a big effort and a lot of work has been done already!
Earlier in the show, Jazmin and Robert talked about Mike Harmon's new campaign for Governor, Michael Adams' big week (testifying in front of a US House committee and getting a subpoena), Kentucky's $1.1 billion surplus, and the worst COVID week in a long time.

We discussed these announcements, as well as a huge hearing on "Critical Race Theory" in Frankfort during an interim committee, fundraising reports in the Louisville Mayor's race, and several lawsuit updates.

This week, Robert and Jazmin interviewed Chris Hartman, the Director of Kentucky Fairness. It's been two years since we last checked in with him, and a lot has changed in the fight for LGBTQ equality and liberation in Kentucky over that time! He talked to us about what Fairness is doing now, and talked a little about how things have changed over the past 12 years.
In the earlier part of the show, Robert analyzes BR 60 and 69, bill requests that seek to eliminate the teaching of Critical Race Theory in Kentucky and how that national movement has made it's way to Kentucky. Jazmin tells us about two lawsuits Daniel Cameron is involved in, including suing the EPA and trying to mandate fees for people who want their felonies expunged. Finally, we have a COVID update and some quick hits.

The Future of John Yarmuth

Wednesday Jun 02, 2021

This week, Robert and Jazmin talked about John Yarmuth's future -- Attica Scott talked to the newspaper about potentially starting a primary challenge against him, and the Cook Political Report have published maps showing a way for Republicans to redistrict him out of a job.
In addition, Robert talked about the $300 boost to unemployment that the federal government allowed for workers.  Republicans and right-wing groups are pushing the Governor to eliminate the extra benefits, but so far the Governor has refused to remove the benefits.
