Quintez Brown’s Bail is Paid, A Redistricting Ruling, and a New Marijuana Proposal

Robert is by himself this week, and had three stories to share. First, the Louisville Community Bail Fund paid $100,000 for Quintez Brown's bail, and Republicans in Washington and here at home attempted to use that event to push an anti-Criminal Justice Reform agenda. However, Craig Greenberg released a statement of his own which was considerably more nuanced and fair. Second, Judge Wingate in Franklin County make a preliminary ruling on the redistricting lawsuit that both sides claimed as a victory. Finally, Rachel Roberts, Morgan McGarvey, and David Yates put forward a marijuana legalization framework, and Robert did his best to explain most of the stuff in it.

Interview with Rep. Buddy Wheatley, Craig Greenberg Survives a Shooting, and a Legislative Update

Rep. Buddy Wheatley joins us on this week to talk about his Northern Kentucky district and how it changed during redistricting. He also told us about the bills he's sponsoring in the legislature and how he will approach the rest of session and his election campaign this year.
Earlier this week, there was a shooting in Craig Greenberg's office, and Quintez Brown stands accused of attempted murder. We talked about this tragedy and what it means for all involved. Robert and Jazmin also talked about several of the bills that made their way through the legislature over the past week, and Andy Beshear's tax relief plan.

Interview with Cherlynn Stevenson, CRT Bill, and Louisville’s Jail Crisis

This week, Robert and Jazmin speak to Cherlynn Stevenson, a member of the Kentucky House of Representatives from the 88th District (currently) in Lexington. She talked about having to run in a new district post-redistricting, and trying to legislate while a target of the majority.
During the first half of the show, Jazmin explained a new CRT bill making it's way through the Senate, and Robert talked about two other bills, one about SROs and another about "Parent's Rights". Jazmin also spoke about the crisis in Louisville's jails, and Robert gave a political update about endorsements and fundraising. Plus, a COVID update.

Keturah Herron Interview, ”Porch Pirate” Bill, & The Future of Special Sessions

Jazmin and Robert interviewed Keturah Herron in this episode. Ms. Herron is running for two offices at the same time: she's the Democratic candidate in the special election being held on Feb. 22 (In House District 42) and she is the Democratic candidate for the general election in the new House District 42. We spoke to her about why she wanted to run for office, and what she hopes to accomplish while she is there.
Before the interview, Robert and Jazmin talked about a bill targeting "porch pirates", which creates a new felony, and the proposed new rules for how the legislature might call itself back into session.

An Interview with Sue Foster, the Filing Deadline, and a Redistricting Lawsuit

This week, Sue Foster joins us. She is a Democratic candidate in the 31st District in Louisville. She's the President of an AFSCME local which represents many of JCPS's classified workers. She talked to us about why Frankfort needs a labor leader like her, and her thoughts on the current legislative session.
Robert and Jazmin also discussed the filing deadline, the KDP's lawsuit about redistricting, and COVID.

Derek Penwell Interview, Adrian Wallace Runs for Lexington Mayor, and A Session Update

This week, Jazmin and Robert interviewed Derek Penwell, who announced a run for Kentucky House in District 36 last year. Now, it looks like he will run in District 31. They talked about his race so far, and his role as a pastor running for office.

Budget Shenanegans and Other Items from the 2022 Session

This week Robert and Jazmin talk about the dueling proposals for the state budget. Typically, the Governor gives a budget address and lays out their budget priorities and then the legislature amends them. That's not what's happening this year. In addition to the budget, in this episode we discuss the tornado relief bills, the passage of the redistricting bills, and a few other items making their way through the pipeline.
